MLB.TV

I love Baseball!  I mean it.  Baseball is by far my favorite sport.  After I cut off the cable, decided not to renew the satellite & discovered the antenna in the attic, our choices of baseball games was down to little or nothing.  I'm not a huge Texas Rangers fan & the St. Louis Cardinals aren't really up my alley. So, I found a fantastic alternative through my Playstation 3.  MLB.TV.  Baseball 24/7.  Baseball through the Playstation & when I'm not there, I can access it through my work computer, or other computers anywhere as well as having access to scores & live updates & highlight videos through my phone.  I now get all my New York Mets games as well as my San Francisco Giants.  Normally this service costs $125.00, but all of my blog readers can click this link: http://mlbtv.extole.com/a/clk/4sjfM8  and you will get it for only $109.99!

I will let you know that when games are broadcast on Fox, you have to wait 90 minutes before you can view them, but I haven't run into that problem often & when I did, I did wait & then just play the game later.

You can pause games, replay anything exciting you want to see again, and even choose which commentators you want to hear.  When it comes to the SF Giants & New York Mets, the commentators make a huge difference in the fun of the game.  Those guys are hilarious!  It's nice to know I don't have to listen to the drab commentators from the Dodgers...ever.

So, go here: http://mlbtv.extole.com/a/clk/4sjfM8  and sign up & save!

It's totally worth it if you love baseball!

Thanks!

Ladyhawke Album Out NOW!

Here at Art, Love & Action Figures, we love music!  Music helps us create.  It relaxes.  It helps us kick back & write blog posts, children's books, fantasy novels & Xena Movie scripts.  One of the artists that stays in constant rotation on the i-tunes as well as in the 60 disc changer, is Ladyhawke.  Her debut album was awesome & it sounds like this next one, titled "Anxiety" is going to be just as good if not better!

You can head on over to her store here: Official Ladyhawke Store  and pick up here album for $15.00.  She also has bundles that offer the album plus something else for different prices.

Here's a Video sampler of the new album she released a month or so back:

New Elvira Figure

We've had Elvira figures on here before, but this one is by far the best sculpt of the beautiful vamp to date. Offered up by Sideshow Collectibles, this figure is in their Premium format figure series.  This makes her a little pricey at $349.99, but the good news is that Sideshow has a great payment plan option & you can own the Mistress of the Dark for as little as $58.33 a month.  She's set for release in December & features a cloth negligee and a switch out hand, one of which is holding her tiny dagger.

This Elvira figure also comes with the coffin and the cool base with the candles & the skull!  All together, she stands at 20 inches high.
You can go pre-order it right now at Sideshow Collectibles!

Unpleasant Dreams Darling.

Metroid

Metroid started way back in 1986 on the Nintendo Entertainment System.  It has 11 different games within it's series on Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, and every Nintendo system except for the Nintendo 64 & virtual boy.  The latest Metroid game is on the Wii.  It has a solid fan base and was also noted as being one of the very first games ever to have a female protagonist.  It was also one of the first games with  non-linear game play.  If you haven't played Metroid, you should.  It's a whole lot of fun.  If you are like me & still have all of your old systems in working order, you can even start with the first Metroid title & move up from there.  You don't necessarily need to though. Wii put out a great trilogy collectors edition.

You can start with this Wii version.  Once you're hooked, you're probably going to want to add some Metroid coolness to your action figure collection!  Guess what?  You can!  Below is the main Protagonists' ship of choice.  Samus Aran flies this baby in Metroid Prime.  This replica is a limited edition of 750 pieces and measures in at 12 inches long.  It even lights up!

Go get one now, while they last for $279.99 over at Entertainment Earth.  You can also try & get on First 4 Figures waitlist.  They made this beautiful reproduction & have even more Metroid items for sale!  Most have sold out, so you might scour Ebay or Amazon for one of these!

Good Hunting!

Droid & I-phone friendly

If you like to read blogs on your phone, I have some great news for you!  This blog is now I-phone & Android friendly.  You can now take me with you wherever you go!  Go check it out.  On Android, just go to the Google search & say Art, Love & Action Figures.  When it pops up, click it & shazam!  It looks pretty spiffy.  For I-tunes users, I'm not sure of what steps you need to take.  I've never had an I-phone, but I assume it's close to the same, minus the Google browser.  You get Safari, right?

I had ANOTHER vacation!

Wow!  Two vacations in one year!  It's a miracle of epic proportions!  Anyway, I'm back & re-energized & recharged!   I went to Kansas City, MO to the Spectrum Fantastic Art Live! Convention.  It was amazing.

I learned so much & met some really cool people.  I'm adding tons of artists to the artist's list to the right.  Make sure to check them out.

One of the coolest artist there was Thomas Kuebler.  I had T pose with one of his creations.  He found this amazing trunk at a flea market/antique store & decided he had to sculpt this amazingly real looking gypsy to go inside.  It was creepy & cool & awesome all at the same time.  I've never thought about owning this type of art, but I tell you what, I'd love to have that gypsy.

Our wonderful friend Cindy let us stay at her house in Kansas City while we were there.  That was really nice. We didn't have to worry about maid service or leaving stuff that might get swiped.  She took us around the night before the con so that we wouldn't be completely lost.  We found the Starbucks the first day on our own.  No matter what, we can always find the Starbucks.

Cindy left us alone in her house while she drove back to the Tulsa area to attend a family graduation.  We got up each morning, headed for coffee, then to the conference, where our heads were filled with magic, then back home to discuss all the awesome.

Cindy returned Sunday, while we were still arting it up, and then took us out to a fancy dinner.  Monday, we went to Union Station, a historic restored train station, the Nelson Sculpture Garden & some really great eating places.

So a million thank you's to Cindy for her hospitality.  Thank you Spectrum Fantastic Art Live! for coming to the Midwest, so that I could attend & learn.  Thank you to Turayis for being a great navigator, except for the misses exit at Big Cabin.  Oh well, i always wanted to go to Claremore, Home of Will Rogers.

I think we've got at least one more vacation in us.  We have a great concert in August!  Now to the drawing board...literally...ha!

Umm...yes, please!!!

Thinkgeek has this.  What is it you ask?  Why only a panic button light switch.  That's right, it's an ordinary light switch cover made to look like a panic button.  You can smack the light on or off or, get this, you can use it as a dimmer.  Personally, I'm smacking it.  It calls out to be smacked!

2 3/4" x 4 1/4" brushed aluminium with a big bright red plastic button/knob.

Darth Maul Mythos

Sideshow can't stop making Darth Maul statues that I want.  Every time they put one out I drool over it & then faint from the price.  Now, sculpting isn't an easy thing & poly-stone statues require a whole lot of sculpting, mold-making, etc.  It's a delicate & long process to create these things.  I get the cost.  It's nice to create art & get paid for it, & Sideshow has some really great sculptors working for them.  Their newest Darth Maul statue is inspired by the Star Wars Tale 'Nameless'.

This statue stands 18" high x 9.5" Wide & 9.5" Long
It weighs in at about 10 lbs.
It comes with two different heads with different expressions.  One is a menacing expression & the other is the one you see above.  He has two sets of hands, one set has a hand holding a lightsaber & one set has one holding a staff.

This statue is in 1:5 scale.  It is listed as limited edition, although the edition size has yet to be determined.  The release date is set for October 2012 & the price is listed at $249.99 with a payment plan option of $50.00 a month.  You could have it paid off before you get it!

Hot Toys Sixth Scale Thor

Wow!  The Avengers Film did exactly what I thought it would.  Kicked ass at the box office!  Over 200 million dollars opening weekend.  Internationally, this film has already made over $500 million dollars!  Awesome.  I haven't made it to the theater yet to see it.  Hopefully sometime in the next three or four days!

Avengers collectibles are sure to start flooding the market.  I've got one of the best ones right here.  Hot Toys, maker of incredibly amazing sculpts of you favorite heroes, has just released  their THOR sixth scale Movie Masterpiece Limited Edition figure for $199.99.

The amount of amazing detail & the materials that Hot Toys use to make the skin texture look so life-like make these the best sculpts on the market.  This figure has over 30 points of articulation, three pairs of changeable palms, a detachable red cape, figure stand with nameplate.  I can't find anywhere that a helmet is included though.  Some pictures show him wearing one, but it is not included in the descriptions.  It's possible they decided against the helmet later on in production.  That seems strange though.

You won't need to spend a dime on any other Thor figure if you spend the $199.99 on this one.  If you purchase it through Sideshow, you can use their payment plan & pay $50.00 a month instead of the big lump sum.

The artists that worked on this Thor figure were: Kojun (Sculpt) and JC Hong (Paint)

Slimey basically finished.

So, what do you think?  Would you buy a shirt with this one it?

Slimey

I'm working up a design for a Sesame Street t-shirt for the Threadless T-shirt design contest.  The letter was "S".  What do you think?  I love Slimey.  He was always one of my favs!

Battleground Evil Lynn

Wow.  This is an awesome version of Evil Lynn.  If you are a Masters of the Universe collector, you're going to want this one.  Brian's Toys has them for $39.99.  The Big Bad Toystore has them for $34.99.  Amazon has one right now at $25.98, but the seller only has a 93% rating.  She comes with two different heads.

Life-sized Han in Carbonite

Brian's Toys has a Life-sized Han in Carbonite up for sale.  Just one.  Hurry before it's gone.  I would, but I don't have the 4 grand I need to get it.

New Joes

The new & hopefully 100% better G.I. Joe movie comes out June 29th, but the toys & figures are already hitting the web.  Here are a couple of the 9 inch figures that look pretty sweet!  One is, of course, Snake Eyes & the other the character Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson will be playing.

It looks like the merchandise will be heavy on the Snake Eyes character.  There will be swords that make noise, Dress up kits, etc.  There will be regular sized, or 3 3/4 sized Joes to go along with the movie.  Go check out Small Joes for some of the newest stuff.  Not only do they have Joes, but they have cases to put your Joes in & repair kits for your old Joes.

You can also find the latest Joe stuff at Entertainment Earth.
